Workplace Injury Resources for Washington Employers
Editorial review pending
This page collects general information and official L&I resources for Washington employers. It is not legal advice and does not replace L&I guidance or your own claims administrator.
Reporting workplace incidents
Washington has specific reporting requirements for certain serious incidents, and separate claim responsibilities depending on whether you are State Fund or self-insured. L&I publishes the current requirements.
Helping injured employees access care
- Make sure employees know who to tell when an injury happens.
- Direct emergencies to 911 or the nearest emergency room.
- For non-emergency injuries, share where nearby care is available.
- Respect the worker's right to choose an appropriate provider under L&I rules.
Understanding occupational medicine services
Occupational medicine clinics commonly treat work injuries, provide follow-up care, and document work status for claims. See the clinic locations page for one network's locations.
General return-to-work concepts
Returning to suitable work while recovering, when a provider approves it, can benefit both workers and employers. L&I's Stay at Work program offers resources and possible financial incentives for eligible State Fund employers.
